Most songs on the Hamilton Mixtape are excellent such as Satisfied covered by Sia and It’s Quiet Uptown covered by Kelly Clarkson. Both Clarkson and Sia offer great vocals and excellent background effects and music. Helpless, featuring Ashanti and Ja Rule has a strong groove and R&B sound. The use of all these great song take this album with a new meaning that the musical has been about the audience and us as a society today in an explicit way. However, there are certain songs on the album that are not well done. Jimmy Fallon’s cover on You’ll Be Back, is grotesque when Fallon attempts to sing the high notes well. Wiz Khalifa’s Washingtons By Your Side is a bit weird and his use of electronic music does not fit very well into the melody at times. The overall album does have great transitions between each song. The use of covers from different music artists such as Sia, Chance The Rapper, and The Roots mixed with new songs like Valley Forge keep the album fresh. While, the Hamilton Mixtape is a great album mixed with some covers, Hamilton, the cast album is easier to listen, has better songs, and has a strong meaning purpose behind its …show more content…
The cast album mixes Broadway music with contemporary music. Many of their songs draw influences from R&B, rap, and hip-hop music in the 1990’s all the way to now. The album also has influences in classical music and soft ballads especially with You’ll Be Back, which has a 1960’s British sound to its ballad. The mixtape draws multiple places of influences from a multitude of different musicians. John Legend’s cover of History Has Its Eyes On You has a blues feel with the piano. The different music artists such as Sia, Common, Regina Spektor and Busta Rhymes cover the landscape of pop, hip-hop, rap, and silly old songs. It also has a mixture of songs that did not make the final cut in the cast album such as “Immigrants (We Get The Job Done)” as well as covers of different music artists with their own spin to
