About six months ago, one of the students that attend the youth group on Wednesday nights invited June to church and I got to visit with her and get to know her a little better. She came a couple …show more content…
We started chatting about her family and school. She enjoys hanging out with her American friends and loves teaching them her language. Her father works in a business his brother owns and her mother is a stay at home mom. She asked me about my family, and I told her about my mom and sister, and that I grew up in church and a Christian family. I told her about when my father passed away when I was in high school and how my church family really helped me through that difficult time. She then started asking me about my home church in Abilene, Texas, and what it was like to go to church there. She was very curious about the culture I grew up in because her family has never been religious and didn’t go to church. She did not experience growing up with a church family. She told me that it was when her family told her that she would be moving to the United States. I told her that the best news I ever got was when I found out that I got a new job at a church as their children’s minister. I then told her that, to me, the Gospel is the best news that is so transforming that it makes the good news that you receive seem insignificant. The news is that there really is a God and that God loves us more than anything. I told her that He knows us and has counted every hair on our heads, He loves us with an endless love that knows no boundaries, and we can know Him and have a relationship with Him. I asked her if she understood what I had said and she did. She told me that she believed that there was a God, but she didn’t know that He loved her. She also wanted to know about having a relationship with God. She asked about my relationship with God, and this was the perfect opportunity for me to share my testimony with her. I told her that I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior and I believe that He paid
