The Ancient Greek Culture

I find Ancient Greek culture very interesting because of its detailed art and how the art was used to convey their values and beliefs. Architecture was an important part of their culture. One of the most prominent buildings constructed was the Parthenon; located on the Acropolis. Its construction began soon after Greece was attacked by the Persians. The structure was made out of the finest white marble and followed the common cella and peristyle plan. The building was constructed so that when seen from far away the columns wouldn’t appear to sink towards the middle. They uniquely spaced the columns to create a more organic looking structure. They payed attention to every detail to give the building life. The reconstruction emphasized the values of hope and strength in the community.
