I had been at the carnival all day, drinking having fun, just enjoying my day. I mean it was carnival, what's not to love about that? one of the few times you can drink a lot without being judged. I mean I was a man of wine, fine, expensive wine. I was just sitting there with a drink in hand when Montresor walked across to me and said. ‘’ My dear Fortunato, you are luckily met. How remarkably well you look today. But I have received a pipe of what passes for amontillado, and I have my doubts.” “how? "I remarked I was shocked at what a man as nice as he would have to say about wine, my trade. ”AMontillado? A pipe? iMpossible! And in the middle of the carnival! " "I have my doubts and I was silly enough to pay the full amontillado of the price without consulting you in the matter. You are not to be found and I was fearful of losing a bargain." He said with a sly smile. …show more content…

On September 15, I went and took part in el Grito ceremony held at the Miller Outdoor Theater to celebrate the Mexican Independence Day. I did not know what was el Grito, so I went to that event with an open mind. The show came after a long speech in both Spanish and English about the Mexican community in Houston and the impact of Harvey on the community. I really enjoy the sense of community that I experienced during that event. People came as a family or with a group of friends.…

“Living well is the best revenge” although this quote has been passed down for generations, not everyone may follow it. In Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Tell Tale Heart” and “The Cask of Amontillado” the narrators seem to stray from this advice. Between the two stories the narrators have different motives with the same ending goal, success. For example, one narrator relies on revenge while the other madness. These two motives alone create the terror, suspense, and a creepy atmosphere the Poe is known for.…

Tamales Through Time This year’s craziness and smells of carne and my family gathering in my grandparents’ kitchen brings a big, bubbly smile to my face, like always, because I know this means the official start of Christmas, and Christmas means I get to be with my family and Santa is going to bring me presents! My mom says that she heard that I’m on Santa’s nice list for the 5th year in a row! I always look forward to tamale making because I get to be around all my cousins and aunts and uncles and watch them make yummy food for our Christmas Eve feast while I make gingerbread houses! Montresor explains Fortunatos outfit the night his death takes place, “He had on a tight-fitting parti-striped dress, and his head was surmounted by the conical cap and bells (Poe, 165).” Ironically Montresor picked the night of the carnival and also knowingly Fortunato was going to dress as a jester, which will only further his humiliation. Easily convinced, Fortunato was mislead by Montresor down to the catacombs in beliefs that because of his vast knowledge of wine, that he will be able to taste the Amontillado to make sure it was authentic. “Fortunato abandons all reason and common sense in the pursuit of the Amontillado (Baraban).” but not only was Fortunato oblivious to the insults that has said that offended Montressor, but he ignorantly and drunkenly follows him into an obviously dangerous situation in desire of the…

In The cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe vengeance is served viciously. Two Friends, Montresor and Fortunato destiny is determined in two ways only, revenge and murder.
