American Exceptionalism Essay

As defined, American Exceptionalism is split by three different, yet related ideas. One idea is that the United States is different from other nations. Second idea is that America has its unique idea of how to transform the world. And third, the idea that how the US has made history gave it its power to the world. In Frederick Jackson Turner’s essay, he argued that the western settlement had an incredible impact on the United States’ political, social, and economic development. He argued that the United States is a one of a kind country. Although, our ideas were formulated by Europeans, the U.S. is unique and we are proud of it. Today, we have a new structure of government with the youth now being more involved and women now being able to run for president. The saying, “hard work can get us anywhere we want to be” can be applied to this argument. We have been battling and pushing hard to get the youth to be more active in politics and now across the country, we see different clubs and organizations on college campuses that take part in the political debate. Unlike other countries, America proudly shows how flexible our government can be to allow women to take part in politics. We also show diversity by having influential people that can be both men and women. I see that we have the freedom to allow women to run the country and that they can guarantee that freedom for us. As a young child, we are taught that this nation was fought by patriots for what they believe in, freedom. Those patriots believed on three important ideas of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We have been singing Star Spangled Banner at all the important events to remind us because of those patriots, we are now to enjoy the freedom we have
