Family can mean many things to people. Many countries and cultures have a different meaning and aspect of what family means. To my mother, Sajada Begum, family means “staying together and where everyone helps each other.” Meaning everyone sticks together and if there is ever a problem my family will go through it together and fix it together, as a family. When i asked one of my friends Hunter, whom I known since last school year said “family are your loved ones” (Hunter Reines). Meaning they are the ones who love you, similar to my english teacher’s response, Mr. Callahan. He’s my current sophomore english teacher and responded by saying, “unconditional love.” Further being elaborated by loving someone no matter what the conditions are. Family is family.

The U.S. is a nation of immigrants. Today we have 61 million immigrants in the United States including many who are undocumented immigrants. We are a diverse country with many cultural ethical backgrounds. Our country is nicknamed the “American Melting Pot”. Stated by vocabulary.com’s dictionary, “A melting pot is a metaphor for a society where many different types of people blend together as one” The meaning of the term is a metaphor where many people from different ethnicities coexist as one. Many people from different countries came into America for various reasons from corrupt governments to economic stability. But the reasons why I think many immigrants came here is because of a better life style. Most immigrants were not living freely in their home country, therefore they wanted something better from themselves and their family. There are numerous accounts of immigrants and their stories of why they entered the U.S. America may not have been great before or even today, but it had at least something better to offer. Today we all coexist despite our differences and. That's what makes us and this country so
