Those citizens go to school, hold a job, have a family, and live as average Americans, unless they cannot afford a proper education. Not everyone gets straight A’s or is on an athletic team, and not everyone will receive the same financial aid for higher education. Scholarships can be awarded multiple ways, but most people will only be awarded the automatic scholarships for having an average GPA, and either do not qualify for a competitive scholarship or just don’t get it. Then what, their parents can’t afford the rest of tuition and they settle for community college or a mediocre job with average benefits. There is nothing wrong with that, but it’s average, boring, and does not meet the person’s full potential. Why would someone want to settle for less than they can become, is a dead end job with a low penchant really the best they could have done given different circumstances? Is the American dream really reducing yourself to less than you are because your situation hinders your capability? The American dream is an individualized statement made from the dreams of the beholder, whether it’s providing for loved ones or making a mark on the world no one can forget. With the death, destruction, inequality, and lowered standards that plague the US, is it entirely possible for everyone to honestly say they have achieved such a feat? Don’t believe the erroneous concept America has deceived nations with for generations, when the truth blatantly stares people in the eyes with contempt for their own vacuous convictions.
