But that all relies on the people you know and in some cases you don’t know anyone that could actually bring you connections, which once again leads us to what lifestyle you were born into. Although, if you are determined and brave enough to put yourself out there and meet new people then success could possibly be in your near future. The American Dream and the economy might be close to their demise but all hope for opportunity is not gone, it’s just not as substantial as it used to be. Now, I wouldn’t go putting all your eggs into the basket of connections because even if you are connected to the whole world you still need hard work and talent to actually help you succeed and put you ahead; success is earned not given. I know, Americans have a hard time dealing with the word ‘restrictions’ because we are the land of the free and all but when the income inequality gap is so large and still in the process of growing it is time that we make a few changes. As David Leonhardt said, “Inequality, then, is less an inevitability than a choice.”(543) We need to make a different choice, a more equal choice. There will still be a lower, middle and higher class but the income gap will be smaller and the dream for financial stability will be realistic. The issue we are facing in todays economy is that only the higher class is able to actually contribute to the economy. An equal society and a smaller income gap will lead to the revival of the middle class resulting in the revival of our economy because the middle class and the higher class will both be contributing to the economy.
