The American Dream The American dream is thought to be many different things. Every individual has their own idea of the American Dream. Even I have my own opinion of this “Dream”
The actual idea of the American Dream started about 400 years ago. You could say it started with the Declaration of Independence. Some say this idea has been around forever. Up until about 400 years ago no one had the courage to push forward the idea and progress. The dream was also reimagined around the 1890’s. There were many new thoughts brought into the picture during the post-Civil War times.
In 1776 (the year the signing of The Declaration of Independence occurred) the main American Dream was freedom. Many wanted a family in peace and away from dictatorship.
