The country has endured countless challenging issues such as wars, battles, presidencies, economy collapses, racial wars, and technological changes. The list of experiences within America can truly go on forever. However, one must ask, despite all of the negativities, hardships and atrocities, how did Americans achieve the Dream through all of that? Americans are truly resilient no matter where they come from within the country. Resiliency is key and the only way possible for them to have weather the challenges of the past as history has shown. During the initial settlements and the time of the founding fathers they fought the British declaring their own independence. Civil War Era, through the will to fight for what was believed in, slavery was abolished. Industrial Age, during this period inventors became successful by making changes of life to the vast public. Roaring Twenties, the Women’s Suffrage Movement gifted women the ability to vote. Post War Boom, after World War II the majority of Americans needed to rebuild and with that came much success and betterment of life. Civil Rights Movement, people of color were ever so strong and successfully fought for equal rights. 20th Century, was the time of technological change which led to many success entrepreneurs. 21st Century, similar to the civil rights movement, gay rights were enacted. Many immigrants have and will continue to go for the American Dream. Immigrants themselves are another core of the Dream. For example, my grandfather immigrated from Juarez, Mexico long ago with nothing to his name. Upon leaving Mexico he set out to live by our unalienable rights to be have liberty, life, and the pursuit of happiness. He did just that. As of today, just like many others, he has owned a business for a period of time comparable to his age in America. Without the protected rights of the American Dream he or others would have never been able to achieve that. Those rights still exist and therefore as a country, America will continue to enable people to attain the
