There was a time when the United States of America was the epitome of how a country should operate. It was like a flower in a oasis of sand, and people from all over the world left their homelands in search of a better life on American soil. This gave the world a positive view of our nation, but as time progressed, we lost our sense of who we are as a country. Instead of focusing on the important things like conserving our country’s values, we became fixated on changing with the rest of the world. Slowly but surely, the American dream has died. Donald Trump states, “Sadly, the American dream is dead. Right now, his most well known policy has to do with immigration reform. Right off the bat, I know many people think that Trump hates Hispanics, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Robert Costa quotes Trump, stating, “We want people to come into our country but they have to come into our country legally.” Now what seems unreasonable about that? Donald Trump, arguments strong, makes a legitimate case for immigration reform. The media has so greatly skewed the image of Trump, and they have twisted his words around to make him seem like a racist. The reality of the situation is that illegal immigration has become a problem for our country. Many illegal immigrants have been involved with the spread of drugs and violence in our country as of late. Jesse Byrnes quotes Donald Trump, stating, “As has been stated continuously in the press, people are pouring across our borders unabated. Public reports routinely state great amounts of crime are being committed by illegal immigrants. This must be stopped and it must be stopped now."
