To represent the American dream in chapter 6 and 7, I decided to describe a painting. This painting will describe and show the success in the American dream and the downfall, using context from the book The Great Gatsby.

The first side the painting is of James Gatz sailing out to warn a yacht he spots in the distance. Gatz is still Paddling on his boat, but he identifies the man is Dan Cody a wealthy copper mogul and recognizing that this could be the moment he changes his life around. The other side of the painting is Gatsby pursuing the American Dream. The painting shows the new Jay Gatsby drifting off into the sun with nice clothes accompanied by Dan Cody. Also in this painting you can see a rundown town with flashing lights in the fair …show more content…
This shows the hustle in Jay to make new money as he saw the opportunity to impress and save a wealthier man so he could teach and maybe even give Gatsby some money or tips. Also this being only the start of his mission to become someone, in the picture you can also see a man wearing a grey suit and hat who is supposed to represent Meyer wolfsheim who was the next person to help Gatsby achieve new money by using Gatsby to sell illegal alcohol. The next painting is a picture of Gatsby or James Gatz, living with his family in a poor environment in his father's farm, but looking out at a greenlight which he wants to chase. The second half of the photo is James Gatsby wearing a gold suit in a luxurious mansion with a green light shining over him, his car, and his mansion. This shows the American dream because it shows Gatz, as a poor kid, getting ready to chase that green light which symbolizes hope dreams, and love, which all adds up in the second picture as he is shown part of the successful new money man. On the other hand the backside of the painting is a picture of young Tom Buchanan standing beside his father while Tom is wearing his Yale coat behind a huge white mansion. The second
