What dream does most people here share in the world? I’ll tell you, it’s called the American Dream and it’s been around since 1931. The American Dream is protected by the Declaration of independence, in this quote: “We hold truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” The Declaration continued, “That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving just powers from the consent of the governed.” The Founding Fathers said that each person’s desire to pursue happiness was not just self-indulgence, but it was also a part of what drives ambition and creativity. By legally protecting these values, the Founding Fathers set up a society that was appealing to those who wanted a better life.
