Gatsby tired to buy his way into a society that wouldn’t accept him. He also tried to win Daisy over by having all types of nice, expensive things. The Great Gatsby shows us the way people will fall into the hands of money, greed, and power. Gatsby lived by himself with his servants. After walking around his house they discovered that he has a really big house for only one person to be living there. Gatsby’s response was , “I keep it full of interesting people, night and day. People who do interesting things, celebrated people.” After a while Daisy discovered what nice things Gatsby really had. “ They’re such beautiful shirts,” she sobbed, her voice muffled in the thick fold. “It makes me sad because I’ve never seen such-such beautiful shirts before.” Daisy realized that Gatsby had things that she haven’t seen before. When Gatsby and Daisy reunited to begin an affair , it made him feel as if he was achieving his goal. Tom didn’t like the fact that Gatsby was trying to take Daisy away from him. “I’d like to know who he is and what he does,” insisted Tom. “And I think I’ll make a point of finding out.” Tom knew that Gatsby had maybe gained his money through some type of illegal things. Gatsby wanted nothing less of Daisy than for her to tell Tom that she never really loved him.Daisy could only admit that she loved them both. Daisy was happy with Gatsby but she also loved Tom. Daisy refused to leave Tom because she was accustomed to the old money life style while being with Tom. After Daisy’s refusal to be with Gatsby , Myrtle Wilson was now dead. Myrtle figured that it was Tom who was driving Gatsby’s yellow car when they were heading back home from the city. Instead it was Gatsby who was driving and Myrtle thought it was Tom since he was the one in that car the first time. Myrtle ended up running out in front of the car and being hit by Gatsby. Gatsby kept driving and later

Daisy has already tricked Gatsby into believing that she loved him like she once did, and her petty need for luxurious belongings leads her to deceive him. As decades pass, the American Dream has evolved to keep up with the times, to adjust with what society wants. Living this so-called dream varied between ages; from children and teens, to young adults, and so on and so forth; there’s a cycle that makes it able to depict what’s suitable depending on the person obtaining a high means…

The American Dream prompted one of the greatest influx of foreigners the world has ever seen. It was because people knew that they could change their lives and social classes off the sweat of their brows. It 's an intrinsical part of what it means to be an American today, that we can start at the very bottom with nothing at all and still make it to the top rung of the social ladder. The American dream is all about life chances, as created by Max Weber, the theory that each individual has the chance to improve their quality of life. That opportunity today is very different, and the chances of succeeding are much more limited now than they were in the past.…
