The American Dream is based on material prosperity. The American Dream glorifies expensive clothing, fast cars, and luxurious mansions and properties. People are told they can only achieve these things through money. - D.J. I believe that the American Dream is based on material prosperity because money from a well-paying job helps improve people’s lives. Money is a conductor of happiness, which is the reason why people crave for more money to buy physical things. -Neil

My dad is a Japanese immigrant that has achieved the American Dream. He moved to the US. after pursuing higher education in Japan because there were more opportunities here. Now, he holds a high position in IBM and has his dream job. -Neil Arnold Schwarzenegger, born in Austria, immigrated to America in 1968, became a world class weight lifter, world famous actor, and governor of California in 2003. Additionally he married into the Kennedy family. -Austin
Jose Fernandez was born in Cuba in 1992 and defected to the U.S. in 2008 after multiple attempts. He became a 2 time all-star for the Miami Marlins before he tragically passed away in a boating accident recently on September 25, 2016. He achieved the American dream because he escaped oppression and was able to do the job that he loved and get his American citizenship. -Eddie
Elon Musk moved from Africa to America in the 1980’s. He sold many companies, and now is a multi-millionaire that owns Tesla Motors and SpaceX. -Gabe
