The Americans with Disabilities Act The Americans with Disabilities Act was established in 1998, at the recommendation from the National Council of Disability. The Americans with Disabilities Act covers those with physical and mental disabilities. The Americans with disabilities Act is also known as ADA.
The Act protects people with disabilities from discrimination in the workforce, and the workforce must provide reasonable accommodations for those with disabilities. The devices may include something simple as a ramp, or more high tech, as a telecommunications device.
The Americans with Disabilities Act has helped many people, but has not gone unchallenged.

National Council of Disability The National Council of Disabilities is a federal agency that advises the President and
Congress and other federal agencies of programs, policies and procedures that affect people with disabilities. The National Council of Disabilities is the voice for the people with disabilities. The Council is comprised of Presidential and Congressional appointees, that work full time and review legislature that will affect those with disabilities. The council was statutorily created in 1978 through an amendment to the Rehabilitation Act. In 1986, the
National Council on Disabilities drafted the first version of the bill, and introduces it to the
House and Senate for approval. The bill was signed into law in July 1990, by President George
H.W. Bush. The last amendment to the policy was made in 2008, and made effective in 2009, by George W. Bush. (Terry, 2016)
What Disabilities Are Covered by the Act A disability does not have to be permanent or server to be covered by the ADA.

There are certain conditions, that are considered anti-social, and often result in illegal activity, such as; kleptomania, pedophilia, and voyeurism, conditions like these are not covered under the
Americans with Disabilities Act, this is to protect the rights of all people involved, and prevent misuse of the ADA. (Act, 2105)
Rights
There are many different areas of the ADA, that protect those with disabilities. The five areas covered under the Act are call Title’s, and each title defines the legislature clearly and accurately. Employment is the first title, and the one most often associated with the ADA. The

ADA also addresses transportation, public transportation, communication, service animals.
Title V covers miscellaneous areas, because life is not black and white.
Title I Title I address employment, and is clearly stated that, a qualified person with a disability will not be discriminated against for hiring, advancement, job training, conditions and privileges of employment. The law defines covered entities as an employer that employs 15 or more people. The laws protect the applicant by limiting the questions that the employer can
