The American Disabilities Act of 1990 (also called the "ADA") is planned to get rid of the barriers prohibiting qualified people with disabilities from enjoying the work, transportation, communication, and social opportunities available to persons without disabilities. The ADA makes it unlawful for an employer with 15 or more workers to discriminate in all job practices, such as, recruitment, employing, promotion, training, lay-off, pay, terminating, work assignments, leave, and/or advantages as a result of a worker’s disability.
The ADA describes a disability as:
 A physical or mental weakness that significantly limits one or more of your main life activities.
 There is a record of such a weakness; or
 You are viewed as having such a weakness.
