The American Civil War shows us how a nation can become divided over disagreements. Ending the war took many lives, but the termination of this conflict led to outstanding enhances for the United States of America.
During the 1800’s slavery was commonly used by people. Many conflicts broke out due to this issue, such as the American Civil War. Slavery was the leading cause of the war. The Confederate states felt as if the North was trying to control their way of life. In the article, “The Causes of the Civil War” the author states, “Southern agriculture, especially the production of cotton, relied very heavily on the use of slaves and southerners felt if their right to own slaves was taken away, they would be financially ruined.” According

Many horrific battles took place Many people believe all this could’ve been prevented. According to the article, “Civil War”, by History.com, “The conflict was the costliest and deadliest war ever fought on American soil, with some 620,000 of 2.4 million soldiers killed, millions more injured and much of the South left in ruin.” This statement describes the long war’s effects on many lives. One of the most tragic battles that took place was the Battle of Gettysburg. As stated in an article by the American Battlefield Trust, ” An estimated 51,000 soldiers were killed, wounded, captured, or listed as missing after the Battle of Gettysburg.” One recognized hero in The Civil War was Ulysses S. Grant to his outstanding effort of ending the war. In the article,”ULYSSES S. GRANT” by History.com staff, they state that, ”He led a series of campaigns that ultimately wore down the Confederate army and helped bring the deadliest conflict in U.S. history to a close.” Ultimately, he proved that he could keep stability under pressure, which led to him becoming the 18th president of the United States.
