They are one of the largest foundations that are fighting to cure cancer as well as provide aid to those with it. In my opinion, an effective foundation is one that is not only local, but has a global presence. This is essential because it allows for their aid to not only be locked to a certain region, but to be distributed all over the world. With the American Cancer Society, it was first founded in the U.S but it soon spread its headquarters to over 3000 locations. This large presence not only shows that it is an effective organization, but it also shows that the American Cancer Society is indiscriminant. This gives me a sort of bias towards this issue since my parents and I feel strongly towards funding for research for fighting against cancer. Recently, my uncle who currently lives in Bangladesh was diagnosed with lung cancer and his forms of treatment are limited since his body is too weak to handle chemotherapy and it is too late to try anything else that wouldn’t put my uncle’s family in a state of bankruptcy. Because of this, I feel the need to fund more methods of slowing down the detrimental effects of this disease, as I do not want anyone suffering from the same fate as my uncle. Besides, my family’s views tie into this as well since we were always, in my opinion, selfless in terms of donating to the less fortunate. So, if I was given the chance to, I would definitely donate to organizations to assist humanity, especially to that of one of the largest causes of worldwide
