Animal Testing
Animals should not be used for testing or experimentation. Animals used in these tests are treated cruelly, go through painful and stressful experiments and are likely killed at the end of the experiment. There are a number of alternatives we can use that are cheaper, quicker and more accurate than testing on animals. Ninety-four percent of the tests occurring on animals are not relevant or accurate and do not prove that a product is safe for humans just because it worked on the animals. Animal testing is cruel, inhumane and painful. The AWA only covers five percent of the animals used in experiments, stating in the article Animal Testing 101 from PETA,“an animal is defined as any living or dead dog, cat, nonhuman primate mammal,

There are a number of cheaper alternatives that many scientists can use to make medical discoveries. “Animal testing is time and resource consuming and cost far more than non-animal testing.” (HIS) Scientists spend billions of dollars per year, just putting animals through procedures that may or may not help advance us in the medical field. The National Cancer Institute had a research budget of over two billion dollars. The National Institute of Health had thirty one billion dollars to fund their cruel and often bizarre experiments that we have known for decades don’t lead to cures for humans. There are different alternatives that can be used, yet there is animal experimentation to this day. “Colorado State University and North Carolina State University exposed dog 's genitals to powerful radiation in an attempt to induce erectile dysfunction, most of which did not contract this, and were later sexually manipulated then killed and dissected.” (SIRS) Imagine a little puppy forced under radiation, so that humans could figure out how to get rid of erectile dysfunction. Some dogs could not even survive the harmful radiation. “In vitro, Micro-dosing, artificial human skin, computer models and micro-fluidics [are just some examples of alternatives that] are far more relevant and accurate compared to animals.” (ProCon) Three dimensional cancer cells, made from human cells, mimic human disease and allow researchers to test treatments more efficiently and effectively. This is reason number two why animals should not be used for

There are many alternatives to animal testing and excuses need to stop being made to keep animal testing in business. It may seem like it is the only option, but there are so many new ways to do the exact same test in ways which do not involve animals at all. It is cruel and inhumane to keep animals in small cages and not only physically, but also mentally harm them. Artist Leonardo Da Vinci once said, “The time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look on the murder of men.” The time for animals to be treated similarly to humans can be…

Animal experimentation has made many breakthroughs in modern medicine since it’s been used, but is it really worth the millions and millions of helpless animals that scientists imprison, test on, and murder every year? As many as a million animals are stuck inside of small cages in American laboratories at this moment, scared for their lives after watching the previous animals get tortured and then immediately killed after they were tested on. Almost every animal that goes through the testing experience has not and probably never will feel what it’s like to be outside in the grass, running around freely in the sun, nobody restraining them from moving, nobody sticking them with endless needles filled with things that neither humans or the animals…

Did you know that 92% of drugs that were tested and ruled as safe and effective on animals fail in human trials, and the small percentage that is actually safe for humans is often relabeled due to side effects that weren’t discovered in animals (11 Facts about Animal Testing)? Yet, for some unknown reason, scientists still continue to test different things on poor, defenseless animals, every single day. If the fail rate from animals to humans is 92%, what makes them think that humans still benefit from killing animals just to test our medicine or products?…

Using alternative methods to end the testing on animals would be ideal but is not realistic. The approval process for approving new methods is an extremely slow process in the United States. Furthermore, extensive research much be done before any sort of alternative can be put to use. Recent technologies have efficiently reduced the number of animals used in research falling by fifty percent since the nineteen-seventies (Rowan). Though alternative methods do exist, and are effective; they may never be able replace experimentation on animals entirely (Speaking of Research).…

In cancer trials, the translation from animal models to clinical cancer trials had less than 8% success. This is due to the limited ability of animals at being able to represent the more complex processes surrounding human carcinogenesis and physiology [7].…
