With there currently being an estimated amount of seventy-five billion tons of living things on this planet that we call Earth, there is a possibility that there are more living things out there in space, either in this galaxy, or in another. People like to refer to the beings that may or may not exist in space as “aliens.” This term does not fit the description well, because you can also refer to a person who is from a different country or nation as an alien. Institute currently uses one main instrument/tool to search for extraterrestrial signals. This instrument/tool is called the Allen Telescope Array. The Allen Telescope Array, also known as A.T.A., is a system of radio dishes that was initially developed using both the efforts of the S.E.T.I. Institute and the Radio Astronomy Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley. Funding for the Allen Telescope Array came from Microsoft billionaire, Paul Allen. Mr. Allen gave away thirty million dollars to the project. The Allen Telescope Array is located in Hat Creek Radio Observatory, northeast of San Francisco, California. The Allen Telescope Array captures the signals from space by finding any changes spiked up in the air. Even some of the astronomers on the team that found the possible signal around the vicinity of HD 164595 think that there is more of a prosaic explanation. The best explanation so far is that the Russian military satellite caused the signal. It has done similar things like this in the past during the Soviet period. Another less likely explanation is that many comets started orbiting the star, causing the changes around the vicinity. People today still do not know the causes of the possible extraterrestrial signals. As time goes on, and the mystery has yet to be solved, who is to say that there really was a prosaic explanation of the signal?
