The use of imagination is found in The Allegory of the Cave, when the ones who were locked in chains saw shadows and used their imagination on what they could be or represent. Until one of them was set free and found what those shadows actually were. The man, who was freed, went and told the ones in chains of what he saw and they rejected him because of what he saw.
