In fact the chances one might compete at the Olympic games are slim to none. That being stated, Yusra's journey is far from normal, from Syrian refugee to competing at the Olympics, she has ventured through the toughest obstacles and barriers to complete her personal legend. It all started four years ago when the Syrian swimmer had her life incapacitated with the civil war which has taken the lives of over 250,000 people according to CNN. During this time of crisis, her father decided to pick up things and move his family to Germany. This journey took a grueling twenty five days. It started at the Turkish mountains and valleys where food was bare and rations had to be made. Later they would be smuggled onto a dinghy where Yusra would utilize her savvy as a …show more content…
Her coaches wanted to make apply her for the 2020 Olympics but news got around that in the Rio Olympics a refugee team will be selected and allowed to send a message around the world. Yursa got word of this and an email from the IOC springs out and with anticipation Yursa pushes the mouse with anxiety. Upon reading the email she knew once her journey from the Syrian war to the depths of the Mediterranean to the German swimming club this moment would come.
Overall achieving one's personal legend is a necessity for a full life. Each road towards achieving one's personal legend is different but they hall have one thing in common in barriers . From Santiago going from losing all his sheep to capturing the treasure, to Yursa from losing her home land to an Olympic champion. These barriers only make the journey much more
