The Alchemist Dreams vs.Reality

"Ideas must work through the brains and the arms of good and brave men, or they are no better than dreams."Ralph Waldo Emerson.One's dreams are a precious thing for some it keeps them going aimlessly day and night.For others it's a starting place for a journey that will change their entire being.The book The Alchemist does a excellent job to showcase this it shows us characters like the Crystal Merchant who is too scared to achieve his personal treasure or The Englishman who is never able to discover his personal

When The englishman mentioned omens Santiago’s became interested in who he was as stated “Who told you this” while The Englishman replied “Everything in life is a omen”.The englishman is in search of the universal language and The Masterworks which considered the ultimate goal of alchemy and consist of the elixir of life which able to heal and alignment and the philosopher's stone which is capable of turning lead into gold.He is also in search of The Alchemist who lives in Al-Fayoum and is supposedly 200 years old.During the time The englishman and Santiago spent together they learned from each other the Englishman learned from interacting with others and the boy learned about taking an intellectual approach on life.Later on in the story as we meet The Alchemist we learn about how he views The Englishman as not personally developed enough to become his protege.This is most likely due to his lack of social skills which inhibits his knowledge of the Soul Of The World.In the end the alchemist focused too much on the sciences in books and fails to learn the universal language ‘Love” the alchemist is truly the epitome of a tragic hero.He gives his entire being to his passion to the science of alchemy but never achieves this
