The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, shows many themes throughout the book. The author inspires the reader to go seek their dream because many people do not do it. Coelho believes that every single person on the planet has a their own goal or “Personal Legends”. Another major theme expressed in the book is fear of failing. This theme plays a big role in the book because many people are ordinary and work jobs they don’t want to do but is for the best. The characters decided to settle permanently in their cities because they didn’t have enough courage to pursue their dream. Another powerful theme in the Alchemist, is god.
