Santiago had a frequent dream about a child who tells him that he will find a hidden treasure. Only if he travel to the Egyptian pyramids. This happens while he was sleeping near the sycamore tree of an abandoned church. Then afterward an old woman tells Santiago that this dream is real and if he want to get the treasure then he must follow the dream exactly how it is. Because Santiago is a shepherd uncertainness becomes no more. Later Santiago meets an Old man named Melchizedek. He has ability to read minds. He tells Santiago that in order to pursue his Personal Legend he need t learn about then good and bad omens. Right before Santiago leaves, Melchizedek gave him two stones, Urim and Thummim. When he reaches the oasis Santiago meets an Arab girl named Fatima and falls in love with her instantly. The journey has been halted because the tribal warfare is prevent them to continue traveling. Santiago had a vision of an army entering the oasis. Santiago decided to shares his vision with the oasis's tribal chieftain because attacking an oasis is a violation of the rules of the desert. Soon afterward the alchemist propose to cross the desert with Santiago. With the help of the alchemist was able to get through of the tribal warfare however Santiago have to return to the oasis by himself so he could obtain his treasure. Santiago was unhappy when he arrives at the Egyptian pyramids since him to dug in the ground and found nothing. Santiago was beaten by thieves and rob him his money. After Santiago told t them of his dream, one of the thieves tells his own dream about a buried treasure in the sacristy of an abandoned church.
