The Alaska Reporter Interview Style Analysis

An interview may be interesting in the way the reporter could develop the story, but in some others, it is not the case. However, the importance it is to report in your own style. After watching interviews with former governors and former presidents reminds me of how the government behaves. In analyzing them, I noticed in the interview with former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, Russian President Vladimir Putin and former US president Bin Clinton, the differences that have within style and effectiveness.
Starting in this case, with the interview of former vice-presidential candidate and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, I consider that the reporter Katie Couric from CBS, was who won the battle of the interview. Although Governor Palin answered

In that particular situation, Governor Palin looked awkward with a so simple question that the reporter was trying to get her answer, repeating the question again, but with no success, because she never responded. Furthermore, the interview had some uncomfortable questions like: Why you didn’t have a passport until last year? I have to say that I don’t think that question was necessary, putting the Governor Palin in an uncomfortable situation, however, she did answer back very well. She said that she didn’t was part of those in which parents get their passports after graduation to travel the world. She said that she usually had two jobs and kids, so traveling was not part of her culture. Yet, she understood the world through education. Other than that, I think the reporter Couric deliver important information on asking questions such as; If she thinks that the Pakistan government is protecting Alkaeda within its orders, in which Palin responded that she don’t believe that new presidents has that mission at all, because Pakistan’s people want freedom and democratic values. Couric also delivers information asking questions about the US troops, if they will solve the problem in Afghanistan, answering that it would solve the problem as a strategy for the country. I think that in general, the reporter produce great results and did a great job of asking good questions. I learned from this interview on how she ask those questions without any doubt looking directly into the interviewee’s face. The reporter was definitely prepared for that interview and I wouldn’t do anything

Her approach was very effective as she knew middle class citizens have superior vote. The mention of her son and nephew deployed in Iraq with the army in service of this country, connected with other citizens who have family across seas. Her use of pathos appealed to many individuals, in away promising she will do all in her power to keep them safe. Palin also mentions her everyday life, being a hockey mom, signed up for the PTA, running for city council and mayor of her hometown, she sets herself at the same level as the majority of the population. Most news networks these days use biased reports to entertain a certain audience. Often, different news stations will show the same reports but with a different bias “twist”. For example, a report on the solider Bowe Burgdahl was showed by CNN and Fox new. Bowe Burgdahl is a solider that left his post and got captured by Taliban soldiers. When he was captured, 6 soldiers were killed, and the united states had to trade 5 Taliban leaders to the Taliban to get Burgdahl back.…

There were pleas for favors, as when a Democratic Party official emailed Chuck Todd, the “Meet the Press” host, for tickets to an exclusive NBC soiree. (“I can’t even get every producer on my cable show into the party,” Mr. Todd replied.) There were gripes about coverage, with party aides dismissing the MSNBC host Steve Kornacki as a “hipster pit bull.” And there was disdain for the frequent flattery by television journalists.…

Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump tend to use different speaking styles than each other. The general speaking styles and catch-phrases of each candidate are very different from one another. Donald Trump tends to interrupt a lot and also have an aggressive tone which can be very frustrating when he was speaking at the debates against Hilary. Hilary has a lower key tone and is very much patient when it comes to speaking to Donald Trump which is why she hardly interrupts in most of her debates. We will be focusing on the difference in both candidates and the way they use language to fight their way to the top.…

Every news reporter, journalists, author, or radio host must be always thinking is this ethical? Even though this thought goes through their minds constantly it doesn’t always end up being completely ethical. While doing research on Lou Dobbs, a former conservative worker of CNN, and Rachel Maddow, a current liberal host for MSNBC, I found out that these two people are willing to speak their opinions on every issue. In an article from The Nation, Lou Dobbs is referred to as a hypocrite and unethical man.…

Anna Great job with your discussion. We both had similar ideas when it came to the strength and weaknesses of Donald Trump’s campaign. First, one strength we both identified is campaign financing. Han and Heith make the statement that wealthy candidates have advantages over challengers, since they can spend lavishly on their campaigns without wasting precious campaign time on fundraising, which is crucial to keep campaign momentum going. The overall tone of the interview was somewhat distant. She answered the questions in more detail than simple yes or no responses, but the questions were needed to keep the interview going. I came into the interview with certain expectations, such as that it was a quantitatively known fact that women had worse spatial skills as compared with men, but Dean Vargas called this fact into question, citing a student of hers that had done research into the subject, so I eliminated the questions I had on whether or not she thought a class teaching women spatial skills would be helpful because if she did not even grant the premise that women struggled in this area that it was unlikely she would support the class. Looking back, I possibly should have presented her with the studies I had seen and seen if she had new thoughts in light of these, but at the time of the interview, I did not considering the implications of following a more intensive line of questioning when the first answer eliminated the questions I had previously…
