My Final Lap Research Paper

The alarm sounds at 5:30. Before the sun awakens and swallows the darkness. My shoes are tied taut. I drink my final sip of water before I leave. Quickly, I stretch my legs, arms and my back. Then, after three quick and short jumps, I begin the start of my 5,280 foot distance. Glide after glide, sweat starts to perspire on my neck, down my back and my shoulders. First lap completed. The morning air is a cold and delightful bitterness. Half a mile completed. The wind picks up and soothes my heat-filled face, slightly alleviating the pain. Third lap finished. Sweat begins to drip down my face. I begin to focus on the outside surroundings to avoid thinking of the aches that start to burn in my legs. The trees rustling in the wind. The sound of the car tires of my fellow early-birds meeting the pavement. Neighborhood dogs howling as I pass by. My final lap almost completed. The sun begins to rise and the night disappears. I approach the final corner of my distance and begin to sprint the rest of the way. The run terminated by strength and ambition. Victory! I am one day closer to the strongest potential my body …show more content…
The ideas that many process in their minds when asked this question are miles of long runs each day, ridiculously healthy diets that consist of eating only green food, eating tasteless and boring meals, starving oneself with only three small portions a day, suffering through exhausting workouts day by day and sadly, no desserts or sweets. These are simple ideas that scare people away from what a healthy lifestyle truly can be. Getting outside and running five miles each day is not a requirement for becoming healthy and neither is a single mile a day. If one does not like to run, then they can choose whichever type of physical activity they please that expresses oneself freely and without pressure.
