The battle of the Alamo is forever in the history books for which the Mexican army try’s to reclaim Texas territory which is a province of Mexico. This war was fought for the independence of Texas from Mexico and a battle in which everyone at the Alamo dies. The battle of the Alamo starts off with two men, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, Sam Houston and 13 days plus a day which changed the course of history.

Determined to quell the rebellion, Santa Anna began assembling a large force, the Army of Operations in Texas, to restore order”. (Wikipedia, 2018). Equally important, Sam “Houston chose to join the military at the age of twenty during the War of 1812. His decision was a turning point in young Houston’s life as it provided him the opportunity to catch the eye of influential future president, General Andrew Jackson. Houston’s brave actions at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend left him with injuries that would never completely heal, but becoming Jackson’s protégé set him on a path to greatness. After completing his time in the military, he changed careers and became a lawyer. With Jacksons help, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and continued his meteoric rise with his election as Governor of Tennessee in 1827 at the age of 34. Though vastly outnumbered, the Alamo’s 200 defenders–commanded by James Bowie and William Travis held out courageously for 13 days before the Mexican invaders finally overpowered them"(history.com). On March 4th, day 11 of the siege Santa Anna called a council of war. He announced an assault on the 6th of March .This bombshell stunned his officers. The Alamos walls were crumbling; no Texian relief column had appeared; when provisions ran out, the garrison would have to surrender."(Hardin, 2001)."The pre-dawn hours were cold and many Mexican troops stood shivering in place for hours. Finally at 0530 on the 6th of March 1836 Santa Anna signaled the advance. His troop proceeded smoothly forward under the vivid moon. He had some 1,700 infantrymen for the assault."( (Hardin, 2001)Santa Anna had his commands attack from all around the post breaching from everywhere.one Mexican general began the grueling 12 foot ascent and called on his soldiers to follow his example".
