The Al-Anfal Campaign: Kurdish Genocide During The Holocaust

People say history repeats itself and occasionally that happens and this is one of those cases. Although they happened about 2,076 miles away and almost 55 years apart the Holocaust and the Al-Anfal Campaign genocide were both the result of power-hungry dictators seeking to control a weaker population. The Holocaust started because Hitler did not like the Jewish population because of their race and religion. Hitler also wanted to blame the Jews for Great Depression following World War 1. The Al-Anfal Campaign started because Saddam Hussein’s cousin who was the leader of this operation did not like the Kurdish population. The Holocaust started on January 30,1933 and ended on May 8, 1945. The Al-Anfal Campaign started about 1986 and ended in 1989. The places that were involved with the Holocaust were Europe, mostly Germany, Poland, and Austria. The victims of the Holocaust are mainly the Jews. The Nazis didn’t just kill people who were Jews but, they also killed people who were mentally/physically handicapped and dissenters. The victims of the Al-Anfal Campaign was the Kurdish population which was the only victim(s) of this genocide. The perpetrator of the Holocaust was mainly a man by the name of Adolf Hitler. There are two more perpetrators of the Holocaust and they were the Nazis, and SS/Gestapo. The perpetrators of the Al-Anfal Campaign was Saddam Hussein’s cousin and his name was Ali Hassan
