Introduction/History The idea of Artificial Intelligence has been toyed at, debated, and worked on for over half a century. Yet its practical and realistic application is so deeply ingrained in systems, that we as individuals use every day. What can AI be defined as? AI is a field that is driving to create methods of developing systems that display characteristics of intelligent behavior. The system as a whole is designed to replicate humanistic proficiencies, thinking, and detection. This field we call AI was originally established at a conference at Dartmouth College in 1956. The use for this technology has grown exponentially over the last fifty years. As a result of its incredible versatility, it has moved into a plethora of different branches within businesses. These categories range from bookkeeping, telemarketers, decision support, personal assistants such as Siri, and the processing and handling of large amounts of big data. AI is able to do these tasks by taking advantage of expansive knowledge bases using knowledge representation. There are a few methods that AI has to utilize to perform well in a working environment. This method of reasoning replicates human reasoning because it allows approximate values and interpretations and vague or incomplete data which is called fuzzy data. The main use for this method is mostly used to control manufacturing processes. Perhaps the most useful application of AI would be the practice and creation of neural networks. A neural network is an array of interconnected processing elements, each of which can accept inputs, process them, and produce a single output with the objective of imitating the operation of the human brain. The most prominent use of neural networks is when the situation calls for very sophisticated pattern recognition. Yet neural networks’ greatest drawback is that while it can come up with incredible details of trends and patterns, it is unable to fully explain how or why it came up with the result or conclusion it
