Some of my favorite aspects of this film were the brilliant costume designs and the impeccable re-creations of period cityscapes. In a wonderful and scene stealing performance, William Jones played by notorious actor, Harrison Ford, gives one of his best and most inspired performances. Ellen Burstyn, who plays Adaline’s daughter, also gave an outstanding performance. She somehow steals every scene she's in, as her ability to pass along emotion with a simple look of the eyes is an unmatched and exceptional ability amongst this generation of actors. I am also impressed with the narrator’s direction and story-telling ability. He doesn't fall into any clichés associated with flashback storytelling in a romantic drama. He doesn't present us with every explanation in the beginning. Instead, he associates specific memories with the situation presented so that Adaline's character is revealed as the film continues.
