Throughout the course of history there has remained one constant, humans are never satisfied. Since the dawn of human history humans have had this desire to crave more and want better. The idea of never being satisfied has led to many accomplishments for the human race, from the expansion of empires such as the Greek and Roman empires, to technological advances in medicine that have pro longed life, and the expansion of knowledge through books and curiosity. All have come from the fact that people are never content with what they have. The African Holocaust is one example of colonization and the horrific outcome that ensues, “The largest slave trade in the history of the world was created by white Christian Europeans. Before it was over as many as 60 million Africans would be killed for the profit of white Christian imperialism.” (worldfuturefund.org). The African Elephant has felt the mighty power of man dating back to the 14th century BCE. And over the past couple of centuries the tens of thousands of elephants have been killed every year to be harvested for their ivory tusk. Ivory is a white material that contains dentine and is found in the tusk and teeth of animals. The substances has been used in items such as, art sculptures, false teeth, piano keys, billiard balls, jewelry, and other items to show ones wealth. From the in enslavement of someone just because they don’t look they you to the killing of millions of animals because to humans their worth more dead than alive. Humans were capable of cutting a population in half in only 10 years, from 1.2 million to 600,000 in one decade, that’s astonishing. That the same creature that build the pyramids and the Great Wall, the same people that discovered penicillin which prolonged human life are also willing to shortening others. Or that the same people that were willing to save animals that are in danger or save entire species that are endanger are also willing to kill animals without a second thought. They are willing to kill millions of elephants and enslave thousands of people to achieve their need of having enough of some little white material.
