The affect music has on children’s brains is incredible, music can certainly make a person feel something or want to “rock out” to a beat, but music can do much more than that. Music has the ability to change lives whether through words sung in a song, or a calming atmosphere, or the ability to create a literal affect on the brain, especially in children. The way music affects children is a fascinating topic and today we will be looking at three different ways children can be affected by music. First, how children have an innate need for music. Second, the way music can affect a child’s sleep and finally, how music can improve a child’s cognitive ability.
Now, some may say the affects of music are not extreme, however, the research and continued experiments say otherwise. Another argument that may be brought to the surface is that of, “I was not brought up with music and I turned out just fine.” These are both valid points and doubts that are understandable. However, please make note it is not that anyone thinks “you” did not turn out “okay”, but rather the search for knowledge on the subject of music and children is fascinating and becoming quite conclusive as studies continue to validate such ideas that were once thought of as myths.
