As Huck fin continues to sky rocket into one of the most read original American novels more and more debate rises about the message the book is really sending to its audience. I believe that Huckleberry Finn should continue to be taught in public classrooms because when the novel is analyzed in correct environments it realistically expresses racial problems and corruption of society in the early 1800 's. While Huckleberry Finn can be offensive and misunderstood in many ways; a valuable message also lies deeper than just in the literary text. Mark Twain’s motivation behind writing from that perspective is to make the story a little more personable to the reader. From this perspective twain is trying to reach out to the audience and connect them through Finn’s experiences and pushing through adversity. Finn learns the most through his interactions with other people along his journey. People such as Widow Douglas, Miss Watson, Jim, Pap, and the Duke and dauphin. Not to mention his side kick Tom Sawyer. From these people Finn learns how to interact with a wide variety of different people and in different situations. Whether it is talking to somebody with a good amount of power at a fancy ball; or if it is an African American slave working out in the cotton field. Regardless if Finn really agreed on the position that the person was coming from or how they view the world around him. Finn was willing to hear them out and try and understand where they are coming from and why they think what it is that they believe. That is another lesson for the reader on how to get along with each other, work together, and work towards a common goal. A lot of people in today’s society are too caught up on why other people don’t believe the same way or have the same outlook on life as they do. The main lesson for today’s society would be to just work out the problems, regardless if you necessarily agree with the other person or not. Work out the problems and just get along for the time being until you both part
