People: Huck, Mrs. Watson, and The Widow.
Before, Paps comes and takes Huck away, He is living with The Widow and Mrs. Watson in St. Petersburg. While Huck is living with them he learns manners and about god. Huck also, somewhat understands the importance of school when he says, “ I had been to school most all the time and could spell and read and write... At first I hated the school, but by and by I got so I could stand it” (Twain 15). Twain is trying to convey the message that even in the 1800s in the south, people got education. He demonstrates that Huck is becoming smarter by going to school and learning things he would not of have, when with paps.

But eventually, Huck finds Jim and plays a joke on Jim and Jim gets very angry. At that moment he learned that he should not of have done this because he hurt Jim’s feeling. After Jim says that was very mean and that it hurt his feelings Huck thinks to himself, “It made me feel so mean I could almost kissed his foot to get him to take it back” (Twain 86). After some time, they stopped in Arkansas and went to a religious gathering. Here the King lied to all the people about his adventure in the Indian Ocean and about pirates ,then afterwards stole money from innocent people. Huck was accompanying them thinking,” If I never learnt nothing else out of pap, I learnt that the best way to get along with his kind of people is to let them have their own way” (Twain 125). Huck learns that sometimes to keep yourself safe your have to let other people do what they want even if it is wrong.
