One argument the video possesses in that increasing the minimum wage will force businesses to lay off employees and thereby increase levels of unemployment in the country. This opinion can be contradicted by the belief that raising the minimum wage would only increase economic proficiency and spur job growth across the United States. The video also supports the idea that an increase of the minimum wage would hurt businesses and force many companies to shut down altogether. This viewpoint stems from the belief that paying workers more will force the company to increase the cost of their products so much so that customers will no longer be interesting in purchasing the intended products. Once again, this notion can be proved as false in many cases. Many businesses, such as Gap and Costco, already pay their employees a few dollars above minimum wage and claim that that attract and retain great talent. These two businesses are not the only ones to benefit from paying their workers well.
