Moreover, I could pause, rewind, or review the video as needed. I also used Khan Academy, another video source. Sal, the instructor, had a more specific teaching style that held my attention, and it was easier to comprehend. As algebra became more challenging, and I prepared for my finals; I gravitated towards Khan Academy as my main choice for video learning. I experienced the many advantages from a distance learning class. One advantage was all instructions were documented. The professor’s instructions and revised instruction were specific and in black and white, leaving no confusion as to what was expected of me. Clear, written instructions were imperative for me. Another advantage was all communication was by email. It was easier to express myself through email rather than verbally. I could take my time and type precisely what I wanted to convey. When I did not understand the directions, I would ask someone to help me decipher them. A third advantage was the course was self-paced. Some classes required more of my attention and others less, so I had the option to schedule my time accordingly. The final advantage was having flexibility. I had one week to complete my lessons, homework, or test; therefore, I could do them anytime of the day or night, whatever worked with my schedule. For example, during family visits, I spent some time with the family, and the remaining time doing schoolwork. Another example, during long medical appointments, I took my school work with me and did them during the appointments, or in the car to and from my appointments. There were several disadvantages as well. One disadvantage was I had to check my emails several times daily, or I would miss out on important information. Making it a priority to check my email everyday resolved the issue. Another disadvantage, understanding test requirements was critical. For example, on my first test, I was confused about
