On 12-03-2015 at approximately 1745 hours I Officer Hildebrand, Officer Patrick Sullivan and Sgt. Joseph Harris were dispatched to 630 N D St. for report of an assault in progress. While en route Dispatch notified me saying the male individual assaulting the victim was Kevin Meyer. I had dealt with Kevin Meyer earlier in my shift. While driving East on West Gallatin I spotted Kevin 's pickup headed West on Gallatin.…
Growing up is tough. Every day people go through life with careers that they may not enjoy. Throughout the past few weeks I got the opportunity to interview two people about their jobs, one being a young adult who just started working, while the other was approaching her mid-life with an established career. The advice from both of these individuals was both eye opening and helpful. The age of the interviewee definitely influenced the responses I received.…
My Learning Style My learning style is auditory, it can help me learn because all I have to do is make sure I listen and more than likely I will succeed. Also, this will help me in sports because if I listen, then I will always know what to do. Such as, different plays and my teammates advice. In addition, I already read out loud.…
I do not plan on transferring as most of my friends have, but I will to push myself to be proud of my decision I have made to stay at BC. I have gained, experience, knowledge, lost, and understand most things that I have been exposed to in my twenty years of life. One goal I have is pass the GKE (General Knowledge Exam). The first step would be to fully understand what the GKE is and what kind of tests I need to do to pass this exam. The second step would be to study as much as possible to ensure a passing score.…
There are several practices that allow a student to be more successful in college. Every individual is different and there will be variations in study technique, but one of the most vital ways a student can be successful is to put in the time. Time ties into many successful practices such as putting in the time to study, not procrastinating, and allotting certain time every day to dedicate to school work. Many professors present a recommendation of how many hours of study time should be put in for every hour of class time. A successful student will take that recommendation and use it to their advantage.…
I remember the question from my kindergarten class like it was yesterday, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” Of course at the time, I wanted to be a princess, vet, rock star, teacher, or doctor. I’d stand up, proud with a smile on my face, and rattle off the list. Looking back on that moment in time, I would’ve never guessed what my dream was going to be. I was always the kid looking to help others, go the extra mile, make adjustments, and put a smile on your face.…
Once I begin working as a Nurse, I plan on taking every single positive attribute of each and every wonderful Nurse that I have ever met in both my personal travels and in my Brown Mackie travels, (Instructors), and then incorporate them into the Nurse I am setting out to be. I will apply the skills I loved the most about each and every single one and put them into practice. From communication and listening skills, to patient teaching or even pharmacology, I will use what they have demonstrated and incorporate it as my own. The Expert to Novice Theory couldn’t be more on point.…
First I would go up to her and ask her whats wrong. So that I could calm her down. Then I would take her to an adult. I would ask the adult to try and calm her down.…
For Christmas 1969, I received a 22- inch bicycle with training wheels that I named Starr. It was the only gift I received that Christmas because my family was struggling to stay financially afloat with a failing hardware store in a small Iowa town. I have no recollection of what my sister received that year as all of my eight-year-old attention was focused on that bike. My first mounting of Starr was easy; it was as if we had been born to ride together. She tilted slightly to the left as I leaned on the training wheel.…
Dogs, cats, and other animals are always curious about the world that they live in. For me, I was always curious about video games and everything that involved technology. My father, an automotive engineer, immigrated from China to the United States at a young age. Growing up, my father was always surrounded by cars. He was fascinated about the car's design and operation.…
It seems the older you get the more privileges you get and the more freedom you can have to do almost whatever you want. I remember when I was in elementary school my first day of third grade, it was the day I had waited for since my first day in elementary school. Every year prior to that we had recess on the boring playground meant for the little kids. The playground had a slide smaller than a wheelchair ramp going into a building. It only had two swings that were so low to the ground you could not even do an underdog.…
I am more alert during the morning, and need to focus on doing homework and studying at that time. I have also learned that classes like math, require a lot more time, but I should not neglect my other courses. I have also came to the fact that writing myself daily do-to notes, does not work. Making a huge list of what I need to accomplish looks very daunting, and that I need to keep it short and simply with. I am going to start adapting sticky notes affirmations and post them around my office area or on the fridge, anywhere that I can see them daily.…
Setting off more time in my busy schedule to study will be a challenge and a struggle. However, I am willing to change so I can make more time for this. I hope to make studying part of my daily routine and achieve this challenging, yet important…
Discovering your personal learning style is the beginning step to a successful education. Once you uncover how you learn, you will find that you are able to learn much better. After taking the VARK questionnaire, I have discovered that I am a multimodal learner. According to the Oxford Dictionary (2016), multimodal is defined as being “characterized by several different modes of activity or occurrence”. In simpler terms, it means that my learning preferences include visual, aural, reading/writing, and kinesthetic.…
Revisiting my time management made me realize many things. I personally think that I have to improve in many areas of time managing. I need to start considering the time of days that I work best. On this weekly schedule I can see that I either work on my homework early in the morning or late at night. I know that I do not work the best during those times.…
