The Addams: A Short Story

It was a dark and rainy night, the perfect weather for the Addams family’s annual family reunion. Cousin It, Uncle Fester and the twins, Flora and Fauna, were all present.

Gomez and Morticia were dancing the tango while Wednesday and Pugsley practiced sword-fighting.

All of a sudden, a swift wind blew through the Victorian mansion. The candles along the walls and on the tables were immediately extinguished, plunging the Addams family and their relatives into an unfathomable darkness.

“Holy crypt creepers!” exclaimed Pugsley as he dashed toward the middle of the room to stand by his parents.

“Furthermore, with the assistance of trained employees, we can remove the chilly wind that caused the candles to blow out in the first place by installing insulation and a central heating system, Gomez.” Morticia enunciated.

“Perfect!” shouted Gomez.

“Well, what are we waiting for?” Uncle Fester asked excitedly.

“So it’s settled,” Morticia concluded with a clap of her hands. “We will call our local co-op in the morning.”

“Until then, let’s dance!” Gomez exclaimed.

The Addams family twirled, turned and dipped until they could not stand any longer. Their life of living in the darkness and cold would be no more thanks to their electric
