Nuclear Energy is immensely safe for our environment and does not leave a carbon footprint like fossil fuels. Unlike fossil fuels because there is no burning of fuels utilized in the process the only emissions released into the air is steam from the water heated in the process. Also a nuclear power plant when in the mode of producing energy can run uninterrupted for even a year. As solar and wind energy are dependent upon weather conditions, nuclear power plant has no such constraints and can run without disruption in any climatic condition (source). This is very beneficial because most power plants are unable to function every day and every hour , where as with nuclear energy you would be able to produce an abundant amount effortlessly and …show more content…
Triggered by a 9.0 magnitude earthquake, a monstrous tsunami hit the nuclear power plant causing a catastrophic meltdown. There are multiple levels of security to ensure the safety of individuals in the case that something goes wrong in a nuclear plant. In this specific case one those securities failed. The nuclear reactor was supposed to be flooded by water as a means of cooling down the process. However since that failed to happen the reactor overheated causing the meltdown at the power plant. Also there was a copious amount of radiation exposure in the air and water supply. Despite the various controversial issues revolving around nuclear energy, the benefits are too big to pass up. In order to sustain a growing population, the United States will soon require large sums of electricity that only nuclear resources can provide. Although it is true that nuclear power plants come with possible negative effects, technological advances continue to diminish these problems. In other words, nuclear power is continuing to become more reliable and it is all uphill from here. If we were to compare nuclear energy to fossil fuels it is clear to see which source of energy is practical in the long run. Nuclear energy is clean, powerful, and sustainable while on the other hand fossil fuels comparatively do not have the same tantalizing effects. Fossil fuels produce harmful emissions to our
