Kia Motors introduced us to the very first Soul almost nine years ago. It was at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show where the uniquely shaped and vibrant Soul made its debut and a year later walked away a winner at the Red Dot Awards. Now in its second-generation, the box-on-wheels has become a best-seller in the USA. The South Korean carmaker has made some mild changes to their cubed vehicle. Taking a closer look at the 2017 facelifted model, the entry-level Soul has a pricetag of R309 995 and is powered by a 92kW/152Nm 1.6-litre petrol engine and comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission with the option of automatic.

In the first half of the year it was announced that both the Mokka-X and Crossland-X will be making their way to our shores. The Crossland-X is visibly smaller than its big brother, the Mokka-X and replaces the Meriva MPV. Not much is known about the Crossland-X but the German carmaker has said that it will have an extensive engine portfolio and feature the special ortho-approved ergonomic front seats as in the Mokka-X.
Opel Mokka-X
This year Opel walked away with the coveted SAGMJ Car of the Year Award for their Astra, a month after General Motors announced they will be leaving the country. The German carmaker announced that it would be releasing seven models this year and the Mokka-X is one of them for the outdoor lifestyle buyer. The starting price for the entry-level 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine is R368 100. The 1.4 Enjoy has a power output of 103kW and 200Nm of torque, making it quite punchy on the open road. Opel claims the fuel consumption to be at 6.5-litres/100km.

First released in 2013, the V40 CC is a well-equipped for the off-road and comes with a comprehensive standard kit at R447 412. It comes in the D3, D4, T4 (both manual and automatic transmission) and T5 AWD with 180kW power.
