Meet William the conqueror, an unbelievable guy that changed so many lives at a young age. People describe him as a fine soldier, a great administrator, and not a cruel man by the standards of his age. He took over England from 1066 to 1087. During this time, he achieved so many positive things like winning the battle of Hastings, the Domesday book, and many more. William the Conqueror was a very well known Medieval King in England, which is also known as, the first Norman king. He was born in the month of September in the year 1028. He was born in Falaise, France to Robert the Duke of Normandy, and his mother, a mistress, whose name is Herleva, who is the daughter of a local tanner. He then took the survey and made it into “Domesday Book.” This was one of his last achievements since it was published in December of the year 1085. It took 6 months to get all of the record from the country wide. The book would also hold the record of who owned what land and what the tax will be. Because of all of the information recorded in the book, nobody could argue against the tax demand. He died on September 9th in the year 1087. He was seriously injured fighting in The Battle of Manes in France. He fell off his saddle because his horse was terrified of the Norman village burning down. When he fell off, a big Pommel sword went straight into his intestines creating a big wound with many complications. They rushed him to Duchy Capital Rouen hospital where he was unable to recover because of the tragic injuries he had received during the fight. A couple of days after his death, they had his body transferred into a coffin to be buried but it was to small for his body to fit in. Since the body didn’t fit, they tried their best to stuff the body parts into the coffin. The body parts started to get rotten and had a horrible smell begin. They found out that people were stealing all of his body parts besides the thigh bone. All of
