The first chapter in Roth’s book, “The Achievement Habit” talks about how nothing is what people may think it is. The way they look at life all depends on what type of mindset created. Just like a positive attitude, they choose to have a positive attitude just like we give everything it 's meaning. They say things like “I 'm such a failure”. But when they say that, Roth jumps in and says “we learn from our greatest mistakes”. Bernard Roth tells the story of his coworker George as an example. Georges son committed suicide after being rejected into today 's society. His son made what seems little to some people and made it bigger than what it was. This is what Roth uses to show us that we give everything it 's meaning. When someone takes something super small and blows it way out of proportion they do the strangest things. Just like George 's son committing suicide over something that seemed super small. This example helps people realize that they decide how they feel about certain things and how they will react to
