This book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, is about a boy name Junior also known as Arnold Spirit. He is a Native American that lives on an Indian reservation known as the Rez. Junior is a special person. People have impacted his life as well as he has impacted theirs. Relationships between people are an important part of life. The three people that have impacted junior’s life the most are Rowdy, Roger, and Gordy.
Through most of Junior’s life Rowdy was his only friend. Rowdy was there to protect him. He also taught junior how to play basketball better than he did before. But Junior also taught Rowdy that you do not always have to stay in the Rez. He also taught him that you do not always follow in everyone’s footsteps.”I think Rowdy might be the most important person in my life. Maybe more important than my family. Can your bestfriend be more important than your family?” So without Rowdy, Junior would not be able to stick up for himself.

When junior first met Roger he made a racist joke from earlier in class when Junior “lied” about his name. After roger made the racist joke Junior punched him in the face, which made Roger have respect for Junior. Then after a while they became good friends. When they started playing basketball together they became closer friends. Roger taught Junior that color does not matter. “If you let people in your life a little bit they can be pretty amazing.” Roger paid for Junior and Penelope’s dinner, they took Junior back to the school and Penelope asked Junior if he was poor, because Roger said that he paid for their dinner. And the she asked Junior if his dad wa actually coming to get him and he said no, and told them that he usually walks home anyways. So Penelope can back to the truck and told Roger and then after that day Roger started bringing him home
