The Abduction: The Story Of John Grisham's Player

“I had a story. It was a courtroom drama. I was doing a lot of courtroom work; I was a very young lawyer...I was sort of consumed with this story. And one night I just said ‘Okay. I’m going to try to capture it, see what I can do with words.’ And, that’s what happened”(“John Grisham: Academy”). John Grisham, a Mississippi author, writes thrill seeking stories about life in a non existent town called Strattenburg. In his fiction book Theodore Boone: The Abduction, Grisham’s career as a lawyer is clearly evident through his writing style.
GRISHAM’S CAREER
John Grisham attended high school in Southaven, Mississippi. During these years Grisham was sure he was to become a professional baseball player, and spent his early years of college focused just on sports. When he soon realized that his dream of being a professional baseball player was likely not to happen, he took on a degree in accounting. Graduating from Mississippi State University in 1977 with a bachelor's degree, he went on to study law at University of Mississippi. Grisham graduated from University of Mississippi in 1981, and practiced law in Southaven,Ms from 1981 to 1991. He also served in the Mississippi House of Representatives from 1984 to 1990. Grisham also started a series for kids called Theodore Boone. In the series Theodore Boone, Grisham portrays Theo’s character as a hard driven character that won’t let anything or anyone get in his way. One would believe that Grisham has these same qualities. As a kid, Grisham’s mother encouraged him to read and insisted that he go to college and provide for himself. Theodore Boone is in middle school and he works hard to commit to his studies. Just like Grisham, Theo wants to be a lawyer. Theo grew up with parents who are both lawyers, while Grisham’s father worked two job to provide for the family.
