Social networking is a recent innovation and communication trend that has positive and negative connotation. According to Halle (2012), as this innovation continues to emerge, more challenges are appearing specific to personal privacy, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) regulations, and reputation management. Whereby, “the ANA Code of Ethics and Social Networking Toolkit provide a valuable resource to guide our actions and activities around social media” (Halle, 2012, p. 9). Furthermore, social media has the potential for being used in a focused way to connect specific healthcare groups and communities and creatively advance the health status of many community members.
