Pages 6-7, in the 9/11 Commission Report foretell four different stories. For instance, the pages have a brief description of what occurred, during the four flights, those being: Flight 11, 175, 77, and 93. All four of these planes stories are told in a timeline, “… Showing the simultaneous histories of the four hijacked airplanes as they began and completed their horrendous missions” (Hill and Wang 6). It is important that they are being told on a timeline because it allows the reader to get a sequential understanding of what was occurring by the illustration and the textual literacy telling the story. The authors Hill and Wang provide detailed information on when the flight took off and what proceeded afterwards. It was 7:59 when Flight 11 took off from Logan Airport, located in Boston. In the flight 11 column, it was not until 9:00 that airline officials began to understand that the terrorists were going after multiple air crafts. That was when minutes later, as shown in the text, Flight 175, struck the south tower. The report also provides an image of the impact the plane had on the tower, causing the reader to see how critical the situation was.
The flight 77 timeline then demonstrates the passengers trying to fight back the hijackers as they grew aware of the situation. Many of these passengers aboard began calling family members and loved ones as they were hijacked. There was then a demonstration of how far the plane was to the pentagon by 9:29.
Flight 93 then shows the illustration of the plane and an image above Eastern Ohio. The graphic adaptation then goes to explain how each plane had at least 5 hijackers, but in Flight 93 there was only four since the fifth had been denied entry.
