I still miss the atmosphere of the girls in the locker room and the laughter that would come from everyone when we made fun of Mr. Judge. There were also many inside jokes that happened that I will never forget, most of which came from on the bus or in the car. In my high school experience so far, basketball practices were always the worst. With that being said, our coaches always made it somewhat fun, and there would always be a ton of laughter. Throughout the season, we had weekend tournaments and away games, which led to crazy car and bus rides. On these bus rides, we would go anywhere from telling funny stories to singing Hannah Montana songs. The atmosphere of the team was probably the biggest aspects I was going to miss. I always loved to laugh and joke around with the team. Now when I see the team laughing and joking, I get sad because I miss that part of basketball. Freshman year was very long and stressful. I was involved in almost everything. I was in band, choir, volleyball, basketball, golf, softball, stem club, the year book staff, and many other activities outside of school. Overall, this was just very overwhelming for me. This year, I felt like I needed to give up something, and to me the thing I disliked the most was basketball, so I took a lot of thought in not going out. As previously said, I wanted to watch my brother wrestle. Not going out allowed me to watch his meets, as well as go to our school’s basketball games. With so much free time on my hands, I was able to come home after school and help my mom with the daycare kids. When I was involved in basketball, I didn’t have the opportunity to see them after school, and this made me grow closer to all of the children and grow my love for them so much stronger. I have also been able to keep up on my schoolwork better, and I have seen my grades improve a lot. I have always hated receiving bad grades, and this year I was able to focus and get better grades than I had last year. At some point, I needed to realize the stress of being in all of the extracurricular activities, and that it is good to have a little free time to treat myself and be able to relax. I also have many other hobbies that I had the opportunity to pursue without being in basketball. I really found the love for DIY projects and coloring.
