In both articles there are some words that are a lie. All I know is that she would give out marriage licenses to same sex couples, but she said as long as her name is not in the document is okay. The ones she gave out in the license it said “pursuant to federal” not her name which is weird. The two articles that we read, “The Pope and Kim Davis: Seven Points to Keep in Mind” by James Martin, SJ and “How Pope Francis Undermined the Goodwill of His Trip and Proved to Be a Coward” by Michelangelo Signorile are mostly on logos and pathos. The only reason I think it’s based on that is because it express emotion and logic.…

“Professor Robbin?” The class had not yet started, there was a few minutes before the official start of Mr. Robbin’s English 112: Argument-Based Research class. I didn’t think Mr. Robbin was a professor, but this kid didn’t know the difference. There are not many professors at the community college level, if any, but Mr. Robbin had the distinguished look of one with his tweed jacket and the patches on his elbows of his sleeves. Even with his name being called, he did not turn around from the board.…

When a person or a group of people are left to their own devices without the restraint and moral compassing of civilized society, they can quickly revert to a berserk animalistic state where nothing is off limits and it can be brutal. Rainsford experiences this idea first hand in the short story, ¨A Dangerous Game¨. In our world -- civilized and tame -- there is no ability to fathom how such a heinous act could be committed; hunting another human being for sport (Dashes & semicolon). It can only be in the isolated existence of a human, that their primal being can completely take over themselves and rationalize something so fundamentally wrong; not just murder, but murder for pleasure and sport. After falling overboard into the ocean, Rainsford…

One of the seven deadly sin is avarice which means, extreme greed for wealth or material gain. This entire chapter gives examples of how people act of avarice and how it envelopes our being. One example that most people can imagine would be Scrooge and how his greed took over his entire life and put him in misery. Incoming students wonder if they will fit in and do well enough to stay in a university. In his New York Times article, “Conquering the Freshman Fear of Failure,” David L. Kirp explains that he believes several freshman doubt themselves, their social skills, and their ability to do well in college. In this article, David L. Kirp effectively argues that this cycle of doubt can make students more likely to drop out of school and that universities need to step in and encourage students through his use of ethos, logos, and pathos.…

Perception, Abuse, and Delinquency Abstract The following essay looks at Dane Peterson’s view of juvenile delinquency in his novel, Sins of the Fathers (2003). To prove his point, he draws upon his theory of five different types of victims. This is not to say that these are the only type of victims found within delinquency, but these are some the most common ones found.…
